Another quick little piece for Grantland today. This illustration accompanies an article about new frontiers in basketball analytics made possible by SportsVu technology. It’s a really interesting read by my friend Kirk Goldsberry, check it out!
I recently had the opportunity to paint a large interior mural for a basketball art exhibition in Cambridge, MA. The show (titled In the Paint) was the result of a collaboration between Double Scribble and Voltage. This mural went up in just a tick over 3 days- I think it came out a-ok.
New illustration for Grantland Quarterly 6, on sale now! This accompanied a Bill Simmons article about the unlikely friendship forged between Bill Russell and Kobe Bryant, leadership styles, and their wildly divergent paths to NBA immortality.
I got such a positive response to my baseball windup series that I decided to apply the same concept to great jump shots. Reggie Miller is, appropriately, the first to bless this ongoing pictorial celebration of the most distinctive shots in NBA history.
